From University Press of Florida:
After her death, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings's home in Cross Creek was opened to the public under the aegis of the Florida State Park system. For years, tourists have flocked to tiny Cross Creek to walk in the footsteps of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and experience firsthand how she lived and worked.

Sally Morrison, one of the home's first tour guides, spent years restoring this historic property, maintaining the garden and groves, interpreting the home for visitors, and cooking the food that Rawlings enjoyed. In 1983, she and Kate Barnes, also a Cross Creek resident, first created Cross Creek Kitchens. Inspired by Rawling's own Cross Creek Cookery, their book features southern fare and local favorite recipes interlaced with stories of life in the small community made famous by Rawlings.

The more than 150 recipes reflect the seasons' bounties, focus on natural ingredients, and emphasize healthy substitutions when possible.

By Sally Morrison, illustrations by Kate Barnes, ISBN 978-0-8130-3799-8, copyright 1983.
