This tutorial is designed for those licensed applicators seeking recertification credit. Completion of this program will qualify you to receive 2 continuing education unit towards your recertification requirements. The program is approved only for those who are certified and licensed. This particular tutorial will discuss public health pest control. After completing this tutorial, you should have an appreciation for the importance and the impacts a successful vector control program have had on this state, describe how Florida’s important insect and arthropod vectors are classified and the characteristics that serve as a basis for those classifications, describe the 3 general types of transmission that are involved in vector-host relationships, describe the diseases that are vectored by mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas, and identify the common mosquitoes and ticks of Florida.
